How to get the SessionID from the html viewer?

Is there anyway I can get the SessionID of a report viewed in the html viewer?
It seems that the html viewer hides the rs:SessionID from the url?

I need the session ID to pass to a webservice to save the report as MHTML exactly in the state it has in the reportviewer.

Unfortunately I can not take advantage of the export function in the toolbar because, the report has to be saved in a specific place, given a specific filename etc.

/HenrikI believe the ServerReport object has a property called ExecutionID - at least it should have in recent builds.
The ServerReport class should also have the ability to export to other formats by calling Render, you should not have to call the web service APIs directly. What build are you using?

Thanks
Tudor|||Hmm.. I am using the render method.
I need the SesionID to pass to the header.

Does anyone know how to get the SessionID visible in the url?|||The SessionID is not passed in the URL. It is passed back and forth in the HTTP header.

How to get the name of the error column from the errorcolumn output

Hi,

Iam redirecting the error output of a OLEDB destination component to a script component. My aim is to create a HTML report having the information about the bad records, the error occuring in the rows and the column name that fails. The error output provided two new columns i.e the errorcode and errorcolumn , the errorcolumn value for a bad record gives the linage id for the column, is there a way to derieve the name of the column by using the lineage id?

Regard,

pritesh

Possible, but not trivial. MS seem to consider this a design-time lookup, so you could use something that queries the package structure to get the info. Simon has written a transform that does this as well, note it needs both outputs to be able to get all the metadata. http://sqlblogcasts.com/files/3/transforms/entry2.aspx|||Thanks for the info , i will try to implement it. It sounds useful !|||

And if you want to continue posting here, please change your display name from Anonymous to something else. Microsoft staff will be cleaning up those accounts with display names of Anonymous.

how to get text (html) from "Render" method

currently i'm getting a stream back and am using [see code at end] to convert
it
what i get back on the screen is a bunch of crap like this
MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: multipart/related;
boundary="--=_NextPart_01C35DB7.4B204430" X-MSSQLRS-ProducerVersion:
V8.00.878.00 This is a multi-part message in MIME format.
--=_NextPart_01C35DB7.4B204430 Content-ID: Content-Disposition: inline;
filename="DASH0014" Content-Type: text/html; name="DASH0014"; charset="utf-8"
Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64
PCFET0NUWVBFIEhUTUwgUFVCTElDICItLy9XM0MvL0RURCBIVE1MIDQuMDEgVHJhbnNpdGlvbmFs
Ly9FTiI+DQo8aHRtbD4NCjxoZWFkPg0KPHRpdGxlPg0KREFTSDAwMTQNCjwvdGl0bGU........................etc
instead of what i was expecting - a nicely formed html doc
is it because i am converting the stream?
is there a better way of handling the stream?
am i using the wrong encoding?
thanks
a.
--CODE START
Dim result As Byte() = Nothing
...
result = rs.Render(Report, Format, HistoryID, DeviceInfo,
Parameters, Credentials, _
ShowHideToggle, Encoding, MIMEType, ParametersUsed, Warnings,
StreamIDs)
Dim star As String
Dim ec As System.Text.Encoding = System.Text.Encoding.UTF8
star = ec.GetString(result)
Message.InnerHtml = star
--CODE ENDok so i set this and it works
Dim Format As String = "HTML4.0"
(it was "MHTML")
but now i have a new problem

How to get started?

This is a repost of my post on the VB Express board.

I would like your opinions.

I am a network guy. I learned basic years ago. I can do some html edits as needed to change sites.

Today I would like to start the long process of learning VB with .net applications. I thought I could start with Office developer xp to learn VB. I have that package.

I also would like to be able to build SQL quaries and integrations or automate and manipulate data exports and imports later down the road.

Example: Export various order and customer information from a shopping cart and import it in to Quickbooks or MS Accounting.

First off I need to be able to build web sites and I know I want to grow into VB and SQL.

What should I do?

Learn HTML from web monkey?

Start with Office xp developer Tutorials?

Start with VB Express?

Buy a book?

Can someone tell me where to start and when to move to the next language?

What is the best resource to get to it, without the bla bla bla and a commnd/syntax refference?

How do I mix Html, CSS and .Net (VB)...in the learning process?

I would like to get the fast track for the long haul.

Thanks so much.

There are a lot of different ways to get started. Think about how you like to learn. Do you like the class environment, informal or structured, do you just like to play with new technology, do you like to read and then apply what you learn.
Here are some suggestions:
* Before you go and buy a bunch of books, go to your local library and see what interests you. Looks for books that give a lot of examples
*Come up with a simple application that you would like to create. Then find examples on how folks have done it already
*Search the internet for examples and samples
* focus on one technology first and then expand
* Purse MCP certification: http://www.microsoft.com/learning/mcpexams/default.mspx
* Download the free editions of products; such as SQL Server Express: http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/express/sql/
There are a lot or resources out there. Check out: http://www.microsoft.com/learning/books/default.mspx. The step-by-step series are great when you are just getting started.
The learning never stops & there is no quick simple solution.
Hope this helps,
Peter Saddow

How to get non-html format data to open in a new window

I am totally new to reporting services and am struggling with how to
accomplish something. I have an aspx page that needs to display the
html format version of a report on the bottom portion of the page and
then provide a drop down list from which the user can select another
format and an export button. When the user clicks a new format (pdf,
csv, etc) and then the export button, I need for the report to pop open
in a new window. I have succeeded in getting the report to come out on
the bottom part of the page but have no idea how to get the other
formats to pop open in a new page. I am coding in vb - can someone
point me in the right direction.You could use window.open(URL) method to open in a new window

How To Get HTML Rendering

I am using a ReportViewer with SQL Server Express. The ReportViewer provides options for output as Excel or PDF but not HTML. According to what I have read, SQL Server Express supports HTML rendering. How do I get it to do that?Let me clarify my own post. I have HTML-formatted text in two columns in the database. I need to have those two columns format as HTML in their respective textboxes. I've done a lot of reading on this issue and no one seems to have a very good solution.
